New President Elected
Des Dalton from Athy, Co. Kildare has been elected as the incoming President of Sinn Féin. He replaces veteren Republican Ruairí Ó Brádaigh, who has been affirmed as the Patron of the organisation.
He has been a member of Sinn Féin since 1989, and has served many years as a member of An Ard-Chomhairle (National Executive). Des has been a Vice-President of Sinn Féin since 2003.
The 2004 and 2009 elections for Athy Town Council were contested by Des Dalton on behalf of Republican Sinn Féin. He has also represented the organisation throughout Europe during the course of the past eight years.
Des Dalton is also the Vice-President of the Athy branch of Siptu and a member of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael (the Gaelic Athletic Association).
